For Easter, we went and visited my brother’s family at their new cabin. It was a great place to hide eggs (only one snake found during the hunt) and I thought it might be a chance to test out my new reflector.
I read an article by David Hobby a while back about a reflector he made with a center opening for the camera. If used properly, it works like an ambient light ring flash. I thought it was a great idea and couldn’t wait to give it a try. Unfortunately, on my brother’s property, when the sun is low enough to be blocked by the photo subject, it is behind a forest. This meant my light level was going to be pretty low so I didn’t know if I was going to get anything usable that day.
As usual, as the sun began to set it was Circus Berserkus with all of my nieces and nephews being energetic kids. I managed to pull aside my oldest niece for a quick picture. She has ultra blue eyes and I hoped that the reflector would give her some lovely catchlights.
I was quite pleased with the result. I think it will work even better in a more open area and I can’t wait to test it again.
Hi there, You’ve done a fantastic job. I’ll certainly digg it and personally recommend to my friends.
I am sure they’ll be benefited from this web site.
