Blackrock Beach and Boneyard Beach Travel Guide

I’m not a big beach person but I recently saw this cool video and knew I needed to do a photo shoot at Big Talbot Island State Park.  Some of the resulting images are shown below.  The rest can be seen in this article where I took one of my favorite pictures of all time.  I’ve been to Little Talbot Island for various events (it’s probably the nicest beach in the Jacksonville area) but never made the extremely short drive north to see Big Talbot Island.

Self Portrait: Still Morning Run

Melanie and I were talking about goal setting for the new year.  We have found exactly what the experts agree to be true:  If you have specific written goals, you are more likely to achieve them.  Even so, we often don’t make the time to think this through let alone write them down.

More Moon

Mr. Moon, you are weird but good.  How can you be almost setting on Friday and on Monday, almost an hour later in the day, you are in the middle of the sky?

Goodnight Moon

When we were out running this morning the moon was super bright.  It almost hurt to look at it.  I noticed that it was going to set right over a creek near our house so I skipped stretching today (sorry) and hurriedly gathered my gear.

The final shot isn’t great but it was fun shooting it.

1st Low Key and Grunge Photos

Flip-flopping from the lighting and processing style shown in this article, I wanted to try a very dark low key look where the faces appear to just be emerging from blackness.  The catchlights are intended to look otherworldly and dangerous.  The processing emphasizes a toughness found in sports photos.  I’m very happy with the results.
